Regal red Japanese painted fern, is a striking violet-red fern with contrasting bright silver edges. These characteristics give this magnificent fern an overall tapestry effect. The fronds are an outstanding addition to cut flower arrangements, providing lasting color and soft texture. Great for use in containers and as a houseplant. An herbaceous perennial.

Watering Requirements

Regularly – weekly, or more often in extreme heat or in containers. At least 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Once a year with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after the last frost.

Troubleshooting:

If your plant appears to have bright orange or brown color on the undersides of the leaves – there is a good chance it is suffering from rust. Amend the soil with extra perlite or sand and decrease watering to reduce the overall ‘too-moist’ conditions.
