Bloodgood japanese maple is an exceptional ornamental tree with attractive burgundy red foliage that turns brilliant scarlet in the fall. This tree also has interesting red-black bark which provides some winter interest while in dormancy.
Watering Requirements
Regularly – weekly, or more often in extreme heat or in containers. At least 1” per week.
Feeding Requirements
Once a year with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after the last frost.
Pruning Time & Tips
Annually in winter or summer. Prune to maintain/ train shape and for health.
Japanese Maples don’t require much pruning to be healthy and happy, and as they are such slow growers it’s easy to spot problem limbs and remove them in time. Prune passively, these trees create their own naturally beautiful forms in time with no pruning at all.
