Background
I am a horticulture professional with over a decade of experience specializing in landscape installation, plant selection, and garden center operations. My background combines hands-on design implementation with deep knowledge of plant health, soil systems, and seasonal color, allowing me to create functional, visually compelling outdoor spaces. I have extensive experience collaborating with clients and teams to bring landscape concepts to life, from initial layout to final installation. With a strong foundation in greenhouse production and sustainable practices, I approach design with both creativity and practicality. I am currently continuing my education in biology to further strengthen my plant science expertise as I pursue advanced roles in landscape design and horticultural management.
When I'm not working
I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping with my kids. I maintain my own vegetable garden at home, where I enjoy growing fresh produce and caring for a small flock of runner ducks. I’m passionate about hands-on learning, experimenting with new growing techniques, and continuing to expand my knowledge of horticulture and sustainable practices.
Gardening Advice
Don’t overcomplicate it. Healthy soil, proper plant placement, and consistent watering go a long way. Start with structure, then layer in color and texture. A successful garden isn’t just about what blooms, it’s about how the space feels year-round. Choose plants that thrive in your conditions and think long-term about size, scale, and maintenance. Pay attention to how your garden changes through the seasons and adjust as you go.
Favorite Plants
I’ve always been drawn to hydrangeas for their bold blooms and versatility. They can anchor a design while offering season-long color and texture. Native grasses are another staple in my work; they bring movement, structure, and a naturalistic feel to the landscape while also being low-maintenance and well-adapted to the local environment.
Japanese maples are a standout favorite of mine for their refined elegance. I also prioritize perennials that support pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, because I believe gardens should give back to the ecosystem as much as they provide visual appeal.
Beyond visuals, I’m passionate about engaging all the senses, especially scent. Fragrant plants like gardenia and lavender add depth and emotion to a space, creating a calming and memorable atmosphere. To me, the best landscapes aren’t just seen, they’re experienced, and the right plant choices make all the difference.
