Plant Bio:

Cast iron plant is as tough as its name! Excellent for those difficult-to-fill areas in deep shade, spreading gently by underground stems. A nearly fuss-free, lush, leafy evergreen that will tolerate a range of growing conditions including heat and drought tolerance once established. Also makes a great and easy to care for houseplant for low-light situations.

Watering Requirements

Moderately – when the top 3” of soil is dry. Use a soak and dry watering method in the growing season. Less water in the winter months.

Feeding Requirements

Once a year with a slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after the last frost.

Pruning Time & Tips

Remove dead/ damaged leaves. Cut back every 2- 4 years.

Common Pests & Diseases

Leaf Spot and Root Rot.

Troubleshooting:

If you see yellow or brown spots on the leaves it is likely due to overwatering. These plants like to remain evenly moist but cannot tolerate soggy soil. Adjust your watering regimen to allow the soil to dry out between waterings.
