Plant Bio:

Jane magnolia is best known for its compact, upright habit, large reddish-purple flowers with white interiors and later blooming time (mid-April to early May). It is a slow-growing, multi-stemmed, small deciduous tree. The cup-shaped flowers appear before the foliage, making a spectacular spring display!

Watering Requirements

Often – once or twice weekly for the first season it is planted, and more often in extreme heat. At least 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Once a year with an acidic slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after the last frost.

Pruning Time & Tips

Immediately after flowering, as needed. Prune off dead or damaged branches.

Leaf Spot, Anthracnose, Canker, Leaf Scorch, Dieback, Powdery Mildew, Weevils, Snails, Scale and Thrips.

Troubleshooting:

If leaves wilt and turn brown, the problem is likely leaf scorch, which is caused by under-watering. Keeping the soil moist will reverse the problem and encourage optimal growth.
