Plant Bio:

Kaleidoscope abelia is grown for its spectacular foliage color display. New leaves emerge in spring with a yellow-green color and change to a golden yellow/ light orange as the season progresses into summer. This plant will flower with pinkish-tinged buds that turn into white tubular flowers across its surface. In autumn, the leaves turn a deeper orange/ red, while the center of the leaves remain deep green.

Watering Requirements

Regularly – weekly, or more often in extreme heat or in containers. At least 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Twice a year with an acidic slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after last frost and again in mid-summer

Pruning Time & Tips

Annually in late winter or very early spring. Prune no more than 1/3 to maintain shape and dense growth.

Common Pests & Diseases

Occasional aphids and no major diseases.

Troubleshooting:

If aphids do appear, they can cause some leaf-spotting. Use neem oil or an insecticidal soap to reduce their impact.
