Plant Bio:

Muskogee lavender crepe myrtle is a small tree with panicles of light lavender-pink flowers that appear amid glossy green foliage. In fall, the foliage turns red and is highlighted by the cinnamon colored bark that is smooth, peeling to a shiny light grey. Makes an excellent specimen or group planting.

Watering Requirements

Low – water deeply when soil is dry. About 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Fertilize annually with a balanced slow release fertilizer when leaves first appear in spring.

Pruning Time & Tips

Prune in late winter or early spring. Remove crossing limbs and to keep a nice canopy shape.

Common Pests & Diseases

Powdery mildew, Cercospora Leaf Spot, Aphids, Japanese Beetles and Sooty Mold.

Troubleshooting:

Keep an eye on suckers growing at the base of the trunk, it’s best to prune these off as early as possible to avoid energy spent growing unwanted limbs.
