Plant Bio:

Northern lights camellia is a charming, white, single flowers with pink-tinged edges that explode mid-season in the fall; each blossom is brightened with a center cluster of luminous golden stamens. Lustrous, dark green foliage on a vigorous, upright, form works well as a natural hedge, screen or border planting.

Watering Requirements

Moderately – when the top 3” of soil is dry. Especially during hot dry spells. At least 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Once a year with an acidic slow-release fertilizer. Apply in late spring after the last frost.

Pruning Time & Tips

Annually in late winter or very early spring. Prune to maintain even shape.

Camellia Dieback and Canker, Flower Blight, Root Rot and Tea Scale.

Troubleshooting:

Camellias are susceptible to serious pests and diseases, so watch for sudden yellowing and wilting, grey blotches on the bark and stems, and sunken canker areas on the stems. If you notice any of these signs, bring a cutting or photo to the garden pharmacy as soon as possible.
