Tassel fern is a lustrous fern that is sure to lend an elegant look to shaded gardens. Particularly beautiful when new fronds emerge stiffly, then droop backwards to form a tassel. Beautiful in mass plantings as a groundcover, especially under flowering shrubs. An herbaceous perennial.

Watering Requirements

Regularly – weekly, or more often in extreme heat or in containers. At least 1” per week.

Feeding Requirements

Once a year lightly with a slow-release fertilizer. Apply in early spring after the last frost.

Pruning Time & Tips

Prune dead/ damaged leaves in spring as needed.

Crown rot.

Troubleshooting:

Ferns like to have moist but not soggy soil. During dry weather, give the planting extra water and keep an eye on areas of the garden that get hot afternoon sun.
